FAQ
- Can I use LR on multimode fiber?
- Not as a normal design choice. LR optics are specified for single-mode fiber. Use the media class the optic and plant were designed for, or redesign the plant.
- Is SR always cheaper enough to standardize everywhere?
- No. If the backbone is single-mode, forcing SR creates plant mismatch. Standardize per link class, not a single SKU for all distances.
- What belongs in an RFQ line for 10G optics?
- Host model + OS train, SR or LR class, quantity, temperature range, DOM requirement, and acceptance test expectation on the target platform.
